Shammi Kapoor Passed Away

Bollywood actor Shammi Kapoor, who ruled the late 1950s and 1960s with his unique style and versatile range, passed away on Sunday at the Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai, family sources said. He was 79. He is survived by his wife Neela Devi, son Aditya Raj and daughter Kanchan Desai.

He is survived by his wife Neela Devi, son Aditya Raj and daughter Kanchan Desai.According to the sources, he was on dialysis for the last few years and was undergoing the procedure at least thrice a week.He was admitted to the ICU of the hospital on Saturday.The actor, who made his debut in Bollywood in 1953, when the film ‘Jeevan Jyoti’ was released, carved out a niche for himself with the superhit Junglee in 1961.

Actress Madhuri Dixit, who also came for the funeral, said: "It's always very sad when such a great person and such a great star passes away. I met him last many years ago and it was always so nice meeting him. I've been a fan of his and have seen almost all his films. My personal favourite is 'Teesri Manzil'."

Aamir Khan, Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra and industrialist Anil Ambani were among the last ones to leave.

Yash Chopra, who attended late actor Shammi Kapoor's funeral Monday, said there will never be anyone who can come even close to the 79-year-old actor.

“I am so sad that I don't even feel like talking right now. He was a great actor. His style and his way of acting is cult and it will remain forever. We will never have another Shammi Kapoor in our lives,” the 78-year-old director told reporters at the Ban Ganga cremation ground.

Shammi heralded the swinging 60s and a large part of his appeal was primarily due to the immensely catchy and upbeat numbers like Suku Suku, O Haseena Zulfo wali, Aaj kal tere mere pyar ke charche and Aaja Aaja Main hoon Pyar tera. Shammi was a computer aficionado and his last years were veered towards spiritualism.

Film Star Rami Reddy passes away

Film actor Rami Reddy, known for playing the role of a villain in Telugu and Hindi films, passed away in Hyderabad on Thursday. Rami Reddy became popular with his role in Ankusam. He acted in as many as 250 films in Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Hindi, Malayalam and Bhojpuri. The final rites would be carried out at Punjagutta crematorium in Hyderabad Thursday evening. Reddy, who was undergoing treatment for the past couple of weeks, died at a private hospital in Secunderabad at around 11 a.m. on Thursday morning. He is survived by two daughters and a son. The final rites would be conducted at Punjagutta crematorium here this evening. Hailing from Chittoor district of Andhra Pradesh, Reddy started his career as a journalist before entering the film industry. Rami Reddy became popular with his role in Ankusam.
