BEIJING: Hackers may have stolen personal information of 24.6 million Sony Online Entertainment users, the company disclosed Monday afternoon. The compromised accounts were in addition to the recent leak of over 70 million accounts from Sony's PlayStation Network, an online game and entertainment service for its PlayStation 3 console. The Japanese electronics company said the break-in also led to the theft of 10,700 direct debit records from customers in Austria, Germany, the Netherlands and Spain and 12,700 non-U.S. credit or debit card numbers. The Sony Online Entertainment network, used for massively multiplayer online games like EverQuest, Star Wars Galaxies and Matrix Online, has been suspended temporarily, Sony said Monday.
