The next best-selling hatch in that segment is the Hyundai i20, a sort of B-plus premium hatch that is surprisingly notching up the numbers. The Ford Figo and VW Polo doing decent numbers as well and the Etios Liva, though only available in petrol for now, will get a diesel option too, come September.
But before that, Maruti has finally decided to “officially” reveal a gorgeous image of the new Swift through its official Facebook page. So, here you have it ladies and gentlemen, the Maruti Suzuki Swift, in all its Indian glory.
The Swift petrol is powered by a 1197cc engine producing 87PS/114Nm while the 1248cc diesel engine produces 75PS/190Nm. The petrol engine is fitted with variable valve timing technology and the diesel uses a Fixed Geometry Turbocharger. The top-end variant gets features like 15 inch alloy wheels, Auto AC, Dual Airbags, ABS, EBD and height adjustable driver seat.
New Swift has wraparound silver accent in dashboard, sporty three-spoke steering wheel with silver accent, center console has a waterfall design, premium sporty fabric on the seat, storage pockets on all the doors, retractable cup holder on dashboard, rear sporty antenna, dynamic grille design and unique vertical headlamps.
Launched six years back, the Swift has been a runaway success for the company, with over six lakh units sold so far. MSI is hoping that the new version will further strengthen its position.
