Singapore News: After eight gruelling weeks of challenges and eliminations, 22-year-old Vimala Ganavelu was crowned Miss Vasantham 2011 at the show's grand final on Sunday.
Organised by MediaCorp's Vasantham channel, the pageant recognises Tamil-speaking women of Indian origin who are articulate and encompass poise and elegance.
The pageant is back for the third time after a five-year hiatus.
Vimala, a biomedical science student from Ngee Ann Poly, hopes to do research with government research agency A*STAR.
President S R Nathan was the pageant's guest-of-honour.
